Ironwood Optometry Clinic is affiliated with only top-notch laser surgeons using the latest generation laser systems that have successfully treated thousands of patients who are now happily free of the need for corrective glasses or contact lenses.  Modern laser systems are designed for Custom Lasik/PRK, in which wavefront technology is used to map out a specific treatment pattern unique to the patient.  This will optimize the quality of vision and reduce aberrations and unwanted side effects.

As a candidate, there are three phases to your laser vision correction process, important in ensuring your desired outcome:
1, the Pre-operative Consultation
2, the Laser procedure
3, the Post-operative care

Not everyone is a candidate.  To determine candidacy for laser vision correction, a thorough Pre-procedure Consultation is necessary. Patient history/lifestyle, ocular health, corneal health and thickness, corneal topography, severity of myopia/hyperopia/astigmatism, eye dominance and pupil size are some of the findings that contribute to candidacy.

During the consultation, the results of the examination will be explained in detail to you and candidacy will be discussed.  If you would like to schedule a consultation for laser eye surgery or have any questions, please call us at 604 271-3937 (EYES) during our office hours.

Laser Eye Surgery

LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) is laser vision surgery for correcting refractive error: myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.  This procedure uses a blade to cut a flap into the cornea. Alternatively, some patients are better suited for PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) aka ASA, Advanced Surface Ablation) that does not involve a blade incision. These custom techniques that are are considered two of the safest methods for laser vision correction.
