Dr Joanne Chan

Dr Joanne Chan received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of British Columbia. She received her Doctor of Optometry at the State University of New York. At her internship at the University she provided patient care in a multitude of specialty clinics including Glaucoma, Retina, Pediatric Primary Care, Contact Lens, Vision Therapy, and Low Vision.

At Dr Chan’s externship at the Cornea & Specialty Contact Lens Clinic, she participated in advanced contact lens cases including custom rigid gas permeable lenses, scleral lenses, Keratoconus fits, prosthetics eyes, pediatric aphakia and myopia control. As a newly-established service at University Optometric Center, SUNY’s Myopia Control Clinic, treatment & management involved closely following patients throughout their treatment process of atropine, orthokeratology, multifocal contact lenses, and or bifocal/multifocal glasses.  She carried out specialized testing involving topography, axial length measurement and measurement of cycloplegic refractive error.  She also provided post-surgical care of refractive surgery, penetrating keratoplasty, and keratoconic cross-linking patients.  Dr Chan’s externship also included practicing at the Gouveneur Hospital in New York City. Patient care involved the diagnosis and management of glaucoma, medical retinal, and neuro-ocular disease.

Dr Chan is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.

Jeff Campos

Jeff is our licensed optician.  HIs role mainly involves eyewear dispensing, contact lens training, customer service and performing specialty testing on patients including retinal photography, topography, visual field testing, auto-refraction and OCT/GDx testing.  Jeff has many years of experience in optometry offices, he has an active opticians license from the college of optician of BC, as well he has earned his optometry degree in the Philippines.  He enjoys exercising, music and playing the guitar.  

Chris Wu

Chris has served at Ironwood Optometry Clinic as a optometrist technician and weekend office manager/receptionist for over 3 years.  He is an active student at UBC and is hopeful to start optometry school in the near future.  His services with us has been invaluable to our clinic.

Lisa Moore

Lisa Moore is the office manager and Optometric Assistant for Ironwood Optometry Clinic.  She has over 15 years in the optical and optometric field.  Born and raised in Vancouver, Lisa moved to Campbell River on Vancouver Island for approximately 20 years where she worked for a major retail optical store where she learned about the industry and dispensed glasses. From there she moved back to the lower mainland to be closer to family.  For 5 years, she worked as the Customer Service Representative and Lens Consultant for Essilor Labratories. 

Her major roles included ophthalmic sales, trouble shooting customers concerns regarding patients vision care, lenses education including specialty lens treatment. Our clinic is very grateful to have Lisa as a part of our team.

Trisha Linan

Trisha is our assistant manager of our clinic.  She has her Optometric and Medical Office Assistant Associate Certificate. She is also one of our office administrators and optometric technicians.  Her clinical duties include retinal photography, nerve fiber layer imaging (OCT/GDx), RGP and soft contact lens fitting/training, and autorefraction/keratometry.  She possess strong patient client skills as well as excellent communication and organizational skills.

About Us

Dr John Kim

​ Dr John Kim is a native of British Columbia and received his Bachelors of Science (BS) degree from the University of British Columbia.  He then continued his professional education at State University of New York (SUNY), State College of Optometry in New York City, NY where he earned both his Doctor of Optometry (OD) and Masters of Science in Vision Science (MS) degrees.  Dr Kim furthered his education by completing a residency in Cornea and Contact Lenses at SUNY, State College of Optometry.  In 2001, Dr Kim remained in Academia for the next 10 years as a Clinical Professor at SUNY, State College of Optometry.  As well, Dr Kim concurrently worked at St. Mary’s Eye and Surgery Center, a well known ophthalmology practice with several offices in the New York Tri State Area.  Dr Kim has over 10 yrs experience in treating and managing glaucoma, medical retina and pre and post-operative surgical management. Dr Kim is also involved in specialty contact lens fittings,, pediatrics, low-vision and remains committed in providing you with the best possible eye care.
