LASER VISION CORRECTION (LASIK/PRK/LASEK)
LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) is laser vision surgery for correcting refractive error: myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. Alternatively, some patients are better suited for PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) aka ASA, Advanced Surface Ablation) that does not involve a blade incision. Not everyone is a candidate. To determine candidacy for laser vision correction, a thorough consultation is recommended. Patient history, corneal thickness, corneal topography, severity of myopia/hyperopia/astigmatism, eye dominance and pupil size are some of the findings that contribute to candidacy.
Ironwood Optometry Clinic is affiliated with only top-notch Laser Centers using the latest generation laser systems and qualified doctors that have successfully treated thousands of patients who are now happily free of the need for corrective glasses or contact lenses. Modern laser systems are designed for Custom Lasik/PRK, in which wavefront technology is used to map out a specific treatment pattern unique to the patient. This will optimize the quality of vision and reduce aberrations and unwanted side effects.
As a candidate, there are three phases of your laser vision correction process, important to ensuring your desired outcome:
During the consultation, the findings of the examination will be explained to you and candidacy will be discussed. To schedule a consultation and exam for laser eye surgery, call us at 604 271-3937 (EYES).
